BPC-157 has an extensive preclinical research record — more than 100 published animal and in-vitro studies spanning roughly three decades. In that literature it has been examined in models of musculoskeletal tissue repair, gastrointestinal mucosal injury, angiogenesis and vascular signaling, and nitric oxide pathway modulation.

That record is almost entirely preclinical. A 2025 systematic review of orthopaedic applications screened 544 articles and identified only one human clinical study, and no randomized, placebo-controlled efficacy trial has been completed and published for any indication. BPC-157 is not approved by the FDA, or by any other regulatory agency, for human use, and it has been prohibited by the World Anti-Doping Agency since 2022.
